Lee graduated from BYU in Applied Physics in December 1996 and will
be in Palo Alto, CA in Fall ('97) to start graduate work in geology for
another four years (!) Not married yet. Lee served in the Atacama, including
Alto Hospicio, Antofagasta, Mejillones, Arica, Vallenar, and Iquique.

Chris married Sarah Bouse in March of 1994 in the Los Angeles Temple.
No kids yet. He is currently work as a route sales manager for Interstate
Batteries while attending school to become a firefighter. Chris served

and Caldera.

Kevin Beech

After the mission Kevin returned to BYU and married Jennifer
Moorman in June of 1993. He like BYU so much that he stayed there
for seven more years to complete the joint Law and MBA programs.
Kevin and his wife have two children and have moved away to Michigan
where he works in the Corporate Treasurer's office at DaimlerChrysler.
Wish: Go back to Chile with a Grand Cherokee to see the rest of the country
not serviced by colectivos or Flecha Dorada. He served in Antofagasta - twice,
Copiapo, Chañaral, Chuquicamata/Calama, and Iquique.

She was married to Carlos Vivallo on the 11 of August 1994. At the
current time she is a beloved "mamita" of four of the worlds best missionaries.
Monica served in Antofagasta, Calama, and Arica.

Michael is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work at Eastern
Washington University. A story he wrote that was inspired by actual mission

Judson graduated in Biology and Chemistry at the U of U. He married
Kristen Blanck in 1997. He now works for Metro Radio News, a national radio
news network. He moved to Tallahassee in September of 1997, as part of
the State Capitol Press Corp. They are expecting their first infant in
June of 1998. He served in Iquique, Anto, Oficina, Calama, Oficina, Arica.

Carlos was originally called to Chile Santiago North Mission, but served
a good part of his mission in el norte. He is a chilean native ( now a
US citizen) and lives in the "City of Trees" Boise, Idaho. His wife Pamela
Egley served her mission in the Chile Concepcion Mission; she works for
the Sears Credit Central, and he works for Hewlett-Packard. They have two
sons Phillip David (16) and Gergory Steven (14). They are going back to
Chile as a family in December 1997 for a month. He served in Arica, Antofagasta,
Calama, Copiapo.

Greg graduated from UCLA in December of 1996. He is rooming with Justin
Shriber. They both work in Los Angeles. Greg works for a educational
consulting company called the Galef Institute. Greg would love to hear
from anyone and everyone. In particular, he is looking for the elusive
Elder Nebeker of Mertaugh (sp?) Idaho. Any help is appreciated. Greg served

After graduating from BYU in 1995, Taylor came to the University of
California, San Diego (UCSD) where he is currently a med student. He married
the former Michele Quinn and they have a 6 month-old daughter, Hannah.

Christopher

Christopher was originally called to serve in the Chile, Santiago North
mission. Almost exactly one year to the date that he arrived in Chile,
the Santiago North mission combined with the Northern portion of Vina del
Mar and the Chile, Antofagasta mission was born with President Carlos Espinola
presiding. In September, he was the first assistant to the president called
in the new mission. He then served in Pozo Almonte (the small town on the
altiplano, east of Iquique). He was there for nearly eight months. Chris
would be interested to know if anyone endured a longer stay there.

Emilio Díaz, ex-president of Antofagasta Mission, had many greats
moments in the mission. He says it would be wonderful to share with

After the mission Nelson graduated from Berea College in Berea Kentucky
in 1996 with a B.A. in Chemistry and is currently attending The University
of Kentucky Medical School. He met his wife, Darla at Berea and they were
married in December 1995. She was a studio art major, specializing in painting.
They now have a beautiful son named Simon Gabriel. Nelson served in Arica,
Calama, Antofagasta (2 areas), Iquique, Copiapo, and Tal Tal. He would

and Copiapo.

Sam graduated from New Mexico State in ‘94 and is now a 1st lieutenant
in the army serving with 7th Special Forces Group. This is the group that
deals with Central & South America. He recently finished up 6 months
in Ecuador and Peru. When he’s not working or paying attention to his lovely
wife, he’s skydiving. Sam served in Maria Elena, Calama, Chuquicamata,

Christopher Gourley

After the Gulf war ended, instead of going to school to start his degree,
Chritopher's parents pushed him out the door to Italy. They wanted
him to go and live with his brother who was in the Army. He was there
for several months. While he was there he became quite interested
in the Italian language. That interest led him to learning to speak
Italian, and eventually led him to his future wife to be. He met
M. Gabriella Pantano, now Gourley while attending an Italian Ward.
They were married in the SLC Temple on 22 April 1992. They lived
in SLC until he finished his Business Management Degree at the University
of Utah. He now works for IBM in Dallas TX. They live there
with their two daughters, Alessandra
and Jessica. Alessandra is 3 1/2 years old and Jessica is now
14 months old. They would be happy to hear from any Mission Alumni.

Melissa graduated from Florida State University in 1996 with her Masters
in Library and Information Studies. She works as a librarian for the Florida
Institute of Education. Her husband, David, is a Ph.D. student at FSU (they
are in my ward) and they have a two year old girl named Malary. Melissa

Christina graduated from BYU in 1995 in Humanities and Comparative
Literature. She is currently finishing up her Master's degree in Spanish
literature at Penn State University. She met her husband, Stayc DuBravac,
at Penn State, where he is finishing up his PhD in Foreign Language Aqcuisition.
He served his mission in both the Geneva and Marsaille missions. They were
married in Aug 1996 in the Los Angeles, CA temple, and enjoyed a wonderful
month-long "pre-wedding" trip to South America last summer during which
they were able to visit lots of old friends in Chile for the few weeks
they were there. Christina served in Arica, Iquique and Antofagasta.

Mitchell married Aroha J. McEwen in August 1993 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She is a returned missionary from Viña Del Mar. They have one child,
a son, by the name of Blaise (pronounced "Blaze") Nephi Hintze. They are
currently living in Boise Idaho. He works a night job at UPS in a hub,
works in the daytime (full-time) with Perma-Green, the 12th largest landscaping
firm in the nation and struggles to complete his schooling at Boise State
University in whatever meantime there is. He currently serves as 2nd counselor
in the Elder's Quorum Presidency in the Sixth Ward, Boise Idaho East Stake
of Zion. Mitchell served in Antofagasta (for about 16 months), Calama (Ascotan),
and Vallenar.

Brother Hyatt was married in the LA Temple on March 30th 1996 to Christina
Marie. They just celebrated their one year anniversary. His wife is a Math
teacher (elementary and High School). He is now going to school at a local
community college (Glendale) and getting ready to change to UCLA film depo.
They have no children yet but are definately in the blue print stages of
creation. He served in Iquique, Arica, Anto, Calama, and Copiapo.

After his mission, Jason immediately began to write to Sister Moya
of the Vallenar Zone. In the meantime, he finished an associate's degree
in journalism at Ricks College. He then headed off to BYU where he completed
a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish (1997). In February of 1995 he married the former
Sister Andrea Moya in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had two children
in Provo: Megan (2) and Kevin (10 mos.). The family currently lives in
State College, Pa., where Jason is working on his
Ph.D. in Spanish-American Literature in the hopes of becoming a professor
soon. He served in Antofagasta, Iquique, Arica, and Vallenar.

in Flight Technology. He hopes to continue with a four year degree at the
Univercity of Utah. Tom and his wife are coming up on their first year

go-lucky children. Nick is 6, and Jessica will be 4 at the end of August.

Patrick graduated from Ricks College this past April and has since
returned to his home in Biloxi, Mississippi. He loved Ricks as an institution
of higher learning, but was not thrilled with the cilmate of Southeast
Idaho. He thinks anyone born and reared in his part of the country will
agree that the idea of having freezing temperatures in September is ridiculous!
That's his principal reason for returning home. He also didn't enjoy being
so far away from the family. He is currently studying Spanish and is in
his senior year at the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg.
Right now he is trying desperately to balance the demanding senior level
Spanish courses with an almost full-time job. He hopes to graduate next
year sometime. He plans to continue his education and pursue a master's.

History and a Spanish minor. He currently works in internet sales and is

Originally called to the Santiago North mission where he served in three
sectors in seven months. He was included in the final transfers between Santiago
North and what would become Mission Antofagasta. He served in Chañaral, Arica,
Chuqui, and Anto (in the office as the Financial Secretary, and in Bonilla as a DL).
After his mission he attended Rick's College, where he met his wife, Mary Jo.
They were married in June 1990 in the Las Vegas Temple and have one son named Kheldon.
Bret finished school at Eastern Idaho Technical College with a degree in hazardous
materials. Work has taken him to Reno, NV, Denver, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT.
He currently works at Kennecott Utah Copper as a supervisor and lives in Tooele.

Michael returned home in 1990, finished his education at BYU in 1995,
married his beautiful wife, Ivy Fairchild in June, 1996 and after a honeymoon
in Cancun, Mexico moved to Portland, OR for dental school at Oregon Health
Sciences University. Michael and Ivy opened a mortgage company called
Affordable Interest Mortgage in July, 1997 and Ivy and Michael became proud
parents of a little girl, Sabrina Nicole, on August 8, 1997. Michael
is in his first year of dental school, works 20-30 hours per week at the
mortgage company. Michael and Ivy recently purchased a brand new
home in Sherwood, OR a suburb of Portland. They love to entertain guests

attends Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, California, where he's working on an A.A. in
computer-aided drafting and works for the County of Kern Engineering and Survey Dept.
as a drafting technician. He plans to transfer to the U. of Utah in 2001 to get a B.S. in
Civil Engineering.
